Latest Payroll Updates

Big Red Book Payroll can notify you each time an update is available. As Big Red Book Payroll is a real-time PAYE reporting application, updates should be run without delay as they are required to ensure that Payroll and ROS remain synchronised, as well as to allow fixes and improvements to be installed.

Should you not get this ‘Update Available’ notification when opening Big Red Book Payroll you should check the Help Menu in Payroll under Help > Check for Update and click the option to ‘Switch On Auto Check’.

The latest update can also be downloaded from here and installed manually.

Issue with Import Timesheets
Resolved an issue where users seeing a ‘Cannot perform this operation on a closed dataset’ message when Importing Timesheets.

Incorrect Actual Pay for AE Employee
Fixed an issue where Actual Pay might be out by €0.01 due to rounding of EE AE Contribution.

Issue when Creating PDFs for Payslips
Fixed an issue where AE EE and AE ER amounts may not show on Payslip PDFs.

AEPN not matched to employee
Fixed an issue where employees with letters in their Emp ID might not be matched to the AEPN.

Agent TAIN User Issue
Fixed an issue seen by some Agent TAIN users where they could not perform an AEPN Lookup.

Auto Enrolment
Added the functionality to administer Auto Enrolment via Payroll, including retrieve AEPNs, calculate AE contributions and make necessary AE Submissions.
Note: Due to restrictions on making changes to Auto Enrolment Submissions, it will no longer be possible to make Rollback to any submitted Payments with an Auto Enrolment Contribution after 6pm on the Paydate.

PRSI Threshold Changes
For payment dates on or after January 1st 2026, the threshold at which Class A contributions move from AL to A1 has increased to €552 weekly.

Changes to PRSI rates
For payment dates on or after October 1st 2026, all PRSI contribution rates will increase by 0.15 percent.
