There will be planned maintenance of ROS Payroll Submission Service at lunchtime on Friday 30th October. Any Payroll Submissions made during the maintenance window may not be completed, or even return an error message.


Payroll Submission and ROS Services – Friday 23/10/2020 1:15pm
ROS Payroll Submission Service will be paused at 8pm on Friday 23rd October. Any Payroll Submissions made after 8pm today will be acknowledged but returned as Status Pending in Payroll. Revenue hope to restart the processing of submissions at 9am on Saturday morning, 24th October. In Payroll, ROS > Check Payroll Submission can be used from tomorrow to confirm the submission completed. Please note that there may be a delay in a submission moving from Pending to Complete as submissions made while the service is paused will need to be queued once the service is restarted.

At 4pm on Friday 23rd October, the TWSS Reconciliation link will temporarily be removed from ROS to allow the updating of payslips with Wage Subsidy amounts that have been submitted via CSV. Revenue hope that the link will be available again from early tomorrow morning. Once this is complete, any further CSV uploads of Wage Subsidy amounts should update payslips on ROS in near real-time.

Essential maintenance is required on the RPN service today, Monday March 16th, and as a result will be unavailable for 30 minutes starting at 13:00.

As such, submissions should still go through. No RPNs will be able to be retrieved during the outage, however.

Revenue have announced that changes to RPNs to reflect the USC change arising from the minimum wage increase are scheduled to be made this weekend, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March, 2020. This will require downtime to ROS Services from 10:00pm on Saturday 14th March until approximately 3:00pm on 15th March. Once the RPNs have been updated they will be made available to employers via RPN Lookup.

Revenue are reporting issues with RPNs issued since 6pm last night, 13/01/2020. This may lead to an access violation error when trying to do an RPN Lookup in Payroll. Revenue will push a fix for this later this evening, 14/01/2020.

In the meantime, Revenue have said that users can process pay today without updating RPNs if they wish, but this is only recommended if nobody is on emergency tax who should have an RPN available to them.

Revenue are reporting that ROS services should be working as normal now.

There have been continued reports of intermittent issues with ROS services. Currently, there is no timeframe for a return to full service. Should you see an error in Payroll when using RPN or Submission services regarding issues with ROS, please try again later.

We are hearing reports of performance issues with ROS this morning. This may result in issues with RPN or Submission Services. Should you have any difficulties retrieving RPNs or Submitting Payruns, please try again later. Should a submission status show as Pending, please run the Check Submission from the ROS menu in Payroll at a later time to ensure it has changed to completed and does not contain any errors.

Revenue have confirmed that all 2019 and 2020 RPNs impacted by the earlier issue have been reissued. They are now available via our RPN Lookup function in Payroll 2019 and Payroll 2020.

Revenue have reported that updated 2019 RPNs are now available for anyone impacted by the earlier issue. Work continues on 2020 RPNs.

Revenue have reported that any 2019 RPNs impacted by this issue should be reissued by lunchtime today, 17th December 2019. 2020 RPNs should be reissued sometime afterwards.

Issue with RPNs – 17/12/2019 11:00am
Revenue have reported an error with some RPNs issued on the 16th and 17th of December 2019. The error has resulted in some Standard Rate Cutoff Points being set too high, over €70,000. In most cases, this would incorrectly lead to a large Tax refund. Should you retrieve an RPN issued on these dates, please check the Standard Rate Cutoff Point and if required, contact Big Red Book Support on 01 2048300 for advice.
