Latest Payroll Updates

Big Red Book Payroll can notify you each time an update is available. As Big Red Book Payroll is a real-time PAYE reporting application, updates should be run without delay as they are required to ensure that Payroll and ROS remain synchronised, as well as to allow fixes and improvements to be installed.

Should you not get this ‘Update Available’ notification when opening Big Red Book Payroll you should check the Help Menu in Payroll under Help > Check for Update and click the option to ‘Switch On Auto Check’.

The latest update can also be downloaded from here and installed manually.

Adding Standalone Expense and Benefit Payments
Added the ability to create Expense and Benefit Payments for employees without creating a timesheet and payslip.

Prompt to Make Expense & Benefits after Payroll Submissions
Following a Payroll Submission you will now get a prompt to make outstanding Expenses and Benefits submissions if any are found.
Monthly Expenses & Benefits Report
Added menu ROS > Monthly Expense/Benefit Report which will make a request to Revenue to return a breakdown for submission and category amounts for the expenses and benefits submitted for a specific month. The current month will not be available until the first of the next month.
Pending/Overdue Submissions
Added checks for pending/overdue Expenses & Benefits submissions to the check run when opening and closing a company.
Net to Gross Calculator
Fixed an ‘Invalid Floating Point Operation’ when using the Net to Gross Calculator.
Allow Rate Multiplier for Expense & Benefit Rates
Allow the use of the Rate Multiplier when calculating totals for Travel & Subsistence or Small Benefit Exemption Rates of Pay.

Rates of Pay
Added a check when deleting Rates of Pay. If the Rate of Pay has been used in timesheets, it cannot be deleted.
Timesheets
Added a validation to Timesheets so that a Rate of Pay with an Expense & Benefit Report Type cannot be used more than once in a timesheet. Users needing to add more than one Rate of Pay of the same type in one Timesheet will need to add multiple rates for pay for the report type.

Enhanced Reporting Requirements

Changes to PRSI rates
For payment dates on or after October 1st 2024, all PRSI contribution rates will increase by 0.1 percent.
Changes to Emergency Tax
Due to Income Tax Cut Off Rate increases, the Emergency Tax Cut Off Rate has been increased to €808 per week, €1,616 per fortnight and €3,500 per month, for applicable payments.
New PRSI Panel
We have changed the Employee Details Main tab slightly in that now PRSI Class will be selected via dropdown rather than radio button. It will default to Class A for new employees.
Changes to PRSI rates
For payment dates on or after October 1st, 2024, all PRSI contribution rates will increase by 0.1 percent.

YTD and Date Range Reports
Fixed an issue where the employee list could be truncated when Printing/Displaying YTD and Date Range Summary Reports. Each page will now display 24 employees before moving onto a new page.
